Chad was born and raised in Front Royal, VA where he was an active member of the Front Royal UMC. He attended James Madison University, receiving a BBA in Hospitality and Tourism Management. During college Chad was very active in the Wesley Foundation and worked at Camp Overlook, where he received his call to ministry. Following college Chad attended Union – PSCE, now Union Presbyterian Seminary, to earn a Masters of Divinity and a Masters of Arts in Christian Education. While in Seminary Chad did a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at the Bethesda Home for Boys in Savannah, GA and worked at two Richmond area churches. Later, Chad also earned a Certificate in Non-Profit Leadership and Administration from NOVA.
Chad has served in several churches in various positions including Pastor, Associate Pastor, and Director of Program Ministries, and as Chaplain at Randolph – Macon Academy. In addition to being the Pastor of the Old Bethel/Welltown Cooperative Parish, Chad will remain as the Director of Congregational Excellence for the Winchester District of the United Methodist Church.
Chad currently serves on the Conference Council on Youth Ministries and the Board of Directors for Overlook Retreat and Camp Ministries. Previously he has served on the Conference Board of Higher Education and different Campus Ministry Boards and District Council on Ministries. Bringing two of Chad’s passions in ministry together, Music and Mission, Chad led the Virginia Conference Mission Choir, Voices of Youth, for two summers on trips to the Dominican Republic and Joplin, MO. He is a certified VIM Leader and trained Early Response Team Member. Chad is a Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary International and will be President–Elect of the Rotary Club of the Northern Shenandoah Valley.
When not engaged in the work of the church or community, Chad enjoys spending time outside enjoying nature through walks, hikes, and working in the yard. When it’s cold you will probably find him watching TV or reading a book. All of Chad’s immediate family, including his mom, brother, and sister and their spouses, and 4 nephews and 2 nieces, live in Front Royal.
